| ICL - IMPLANTABLE CONTACT LENS |
| |
| WHAT IS AN IMPLANTABLE CONTACT LENS? |
| The ICL is an ultra thin lens, similar to a contact lens.
Its current form has been in development since 1993.
The difference to a contact lens is that the ICL
is placed inside your eye, rather than on the surface of
your eye. Because of its tiny size and softness, it can
be folded up so small that it can be injected into your
eye in seconds through a tiny hole underneath your
eyelid. Once injected, the ICL unfolds into position
and there it stays, correcting your eyesight without any
further treatment being necessary. |
| |
| WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF THE ICL? |
| The ICL is capable of correcting nearsightedness,
farsightedness and astigmatism. If you need a
lot of vision correction because you are strongly near
or farsighted, the ICL will do the job without an
increased potential of problems. As the procedure
does not involve removing tissue from your cornea, it
is very suitable for people with thin corneas, dry eyes
or large pupils. The ICL is invisible and undetectable.
The only way that you or anyone else will know you
have had ICL treatment is the resulting improvement
in your eyesight. |
